Will the UN allow the butcher Al Burhan to address its General Assembly?
Dr. Hatem Abdul Moneim
In the midst of extremely complex conditions, the Port Sudan government is facing persistently haunting defeats on all fronts as well as serious disputes ensuing between the Joint Forces and the Army leadership in the city of El-Fasher, which was besieged by the Rapid Support Forces that are currently very close to the leadership of the Sixth Infantry Division.
Extremely complex economic conditions created by the Minister of Finance, Gibril, seizing the entirety of gross revenues. In addition to the increasing severity of the disputes between him and Minnawi on the one hand and other Army leaders on the other hand… As well as the heinous crimes haunting Al-Burhan, most notably the rape of the victim (Halima) and the assassination of her aunt in the city of (Zalingei), where he worked for long periods of time.
Amidst these violent waves and the blatant faltering that Al-Burhan’s government is experiencing… The rapist, whose shoulders are burdened with crimes that would make children’s hair turn gray, leaves for New York to participate in the work of the seventy-ninth session of the United Nations General Assembly to deliver Sudan’s speech before it. And Sudan was torn apart by the 15th of April 2023 war, which was ignited by elements of the former regime to abort the popular revolution.
He leaves from Port Sudan to New York, haunted by the ghost of the victim he had sexually violated, raped and assassinated her aunt with premeditation and malicious intent.
By what legitimacy does the United Nations allow a murderer, a rapist and a butcher to address its General Assembly.? He is someone who has lost legitimacy as well as competence and overthrew a civilian government through his ominous coup on the 25th of October 2021, plunging the country into a historic impasse and a catastrophic war that destroyed everything, killed civilians and forcibly displaced them in various diaspora.
The convening of the United Nations General Assembly should be an opportunity to condemn and denounce Al-Burhan’s crimes and an opportunity to avenge the victims of civil wars and deter the butcher, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. We’d like to appeal to human rights and women’s organizations to demand the imposition of the harshest of penalties against this criminal.
