New controls and conditions for Egyptians to enter Sudan
The Ministry of Transport of the de facto government in Port Sudan announced a set of new controls for the entry of Egyptian citizens to Sudan through the Argeen Land Port border crossing.
According to a letter addressed to the director of the border crossing, these controls are based on the directives of the General Directorate of Passports and Immigration’s Director in Sudan.
The new conditions indicate the necessity for the passport to be valid for a period of more than six months, in addition to the necessity of obtaining an entry visa for Egyptians over the age of 50, as well as women and children under the age of twelve.
It confirmed that these directives will come into effect as of Tuesday, the 17th of September 2024, which requires Egyptian travelers to adhere to the new conditions to ensure their entry into Sudanese territory.
The Egyptian authorities had imposed harsh measures on Sudanese refugees from the war in Egypt, and launched police campaigns to arrest violators and return them to Sudan after they were placed in Egyptian prisons under inhumane conditions, according to international reports.
