Military Intelligence orders Journalists to register in Dissolved Union’s lists
Sources revealed that the Sudanese Army’s Military Intelligence is conducting a census of journalists in the states under its control.
The devastating conflict between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces since mid-April 2023 has contributed to the suspension and destruction of the headquarters of media institutions in the country, including government and private media outlets.
Journalists told “Alrakoba” that the Military Intelligence Service is currently conducting a census and classification of journalists in the Northern state, as well as the River Nile, Red Sea, Kassala and El-Gedaref states.
The Journalists confirmed that they received calls from affiliates of the Military Intelligence Service directing them to register their names in new lists prepared by the “dissolved” Journalists Union at the local headquarters in their states.
The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate confirmed in regular reports that Sudanese journalists have been subjected to widespread violations during the war between the Army and the Rapid Support Forces, which led to the death and injury of a number of journalists, the closure of media institutions, the destruction of journalists’ offices and homes, in addition to being charged, prosecuted and place under travel bans.
