Torrents and rain claim the lives of (173) individuals
The Federal Ministry of Health in the Port Sudan government announced that (38,000) families and more than (170,000) people were affected by the rain and torrents, and the number of injuries rose to (505) people, with (173) casualties since the beginning of the rain and floods.
The Federal Ministry of Health shared in a statement that (5) new states were affected by the rain and torrents, namely; (El-Gedaref, Red Sea, Northern, South and West Kordofan), thus, the total number of affected states is (11) out of (18) states.
The number of completely collapsed homes reached (18,000) while (14,000) homes were partially damaged by floods and rain.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced on Thursday that (64) people were missing due to the collapse of “Arbaat” Dam in Eastern Sudan a few days ago, which caused the death of at least (30) people.
Flood and heavy rain have doubled the suffering of the Sudanese people due to the war that has led to the death of about (19,000) people and the displacement of about (10) million people since April of last year.
