The Northern state is drowning
Heavy rains and floods hit the cities and villages of the Northern state on Tuesday, leading to the collapse of hundreds of homes and the death of two women and a child, as well as roads linking the cities and regions across the state being cut off.
Citizens told “Assayha” that the heavy rains that fell in the Northern state led to the collapse of hundreds of homes, isolated areas and cities, in addition to completely cutting off the road between “Dongola” and “Old Halfa”.
They added that the waters swept through a number of villages in Karima, Merowe, Nuri and Dongola, and that the rains continued to fall for more than (8) continuous hours.
The rains and floods in the Northern state coincided with the collapse of the “Arbaat” Dam in the Red Sea state due to excavation operations and the establishment of mining companies for illegal activities owned by the leaders of the State and the Sudanese Army.
The collapse of the “Arbaat” Dam led to the death of dozens, the disappearance of hundreds, the destruction of entire villages, and citizens rushed to the top of the mountains in the region seeking refuge.
