“RSF” discusses developments in humanitarian situation and teams
efforts with ICRC
The negotiating delegation of the Rapid Support Forces, headed by Brig. Gen. Omar Hamdan, discussed with the Regional Director for Africa at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mr. Patrick Youssef, developments in the humanitarian situation in Sudan and strategies to facilitate the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross teams.
The Rapid Support Forces delegation expressed appreciation, during the meeting held at the (ICRC) headquarters in “Geneva” yesterday, for the efforts that the Red Cross mission has been making since the outbreak of the war in Sudan.
The delegation referred to the attack on the Red Cross mission by the Sudanese Armed Forces in “Al-Shajara” area during the evacuation of the nuns of the Church of Our Lady of Mary, expressing regret for the incident which resulted in the death of two Red Cross personnel and the injury of (7) others.
The negotiating delegation renewed its full commitment to facilitating the work of the Red Cross teams in all areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces, and stressed the need for joint coordination in regards to training and capacity building to enhance the Forces’ efforts to protect civilians.
