Heavy rains and thunderstorms hit Sudanese states
The Sudanese Meteorological Authority warned yesterday, Tuesday, of very heavy rains accompanied by strong wind and thunderstorms in a number of states.
The Authority stated that rain and thunderstorms are expected in the south-central and south-eastern parts of the Northern state, the northwest of the Northern state, the Triangle area, most of North Kordofan state, the central and northern parts of West Kordofan state, the central and southern parts of North Darfur state, and the central and northern parts of South Darfur state.
Heavy rains are expected in the Ethiopian plateau and the highlands of Eritrea, which may lead to flooding of valleys and creeks.
The Sudanese Meteorological Authority called for the following:
o The concerned as well as local authorities should adopt the highest levels of caution and preparedness.
o Citizens in those areas should take precautions and stay away from valleys and creeks, organize their outdoor activities according to the warning and avoid dilapidated houses.
o Caution must be exercised when driving on the highways.
