The “RSF” Commander welcomes Washington’s invitation
to Ceasefire talks in "Switzerland"
The Commander of the Rapid Support Forces, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, announced that he welcomed the invitation extended by “US” Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, regarding the participation in ceasefire talks between the Sudanese Army and Rapid Support Forces scheduled to be held on the 14th of August, in Switzerland.
The Commander of the Rapid Support Forces expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the United States, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland to organize these important deliberations.
In a tweet on the “X” platform, he reiterated his joint commitment with the international community to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire across the country, facilitate humanitarian access for the people in need, in addition to developing an effective monitoring and verification mechanism to ensure the implementation of any agreement reached.
The Rapid Support Forces Commander went on to indicate the extent of suffering and destruction that is ravaging the country, reiterating their unwavering position as stated in the “US” Secretary of State’s statement.
He expressed their determination to save lives and stop the fighting in preparation for achieving a peaceful, negotiated political solution that would reinstate the Civilian Rule in the country and achieve the desired democratic transformation.
He stressed his keenness to approach the talks in a constructive manner and expressed his aspiration that the talks would constitute a major step towards achieving peace and stability as well as building a new Sudanese State based on justice, equality and federal rule.
The Commander of the Rapid Support Forces reaffirmed his commitment to the Sudanese people and the international community to actively participate in the talks scheduled to be held on August 14th in “Switzerland” and to put forth significant efforts towards realizing a peaceful and democratic future for the country.
On Tuesday, the “US” Secretary of State, Antony Blinken announced in a statement that Washington “Invited the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to participate in talks regarding a ceasefire, mediated by the United States, starting on August 14th in Switzerland.”
Blinken added that the talks, which are sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well, will include the African Union, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Nations as observers.
