International efforts to address the issues of Displaced
Sudanese in Kufra
A United Nations delegation visited the Libyan city of “Kufra” to discuss the humanitarian and health challenges, as part of the efforts made by the Libyan government, led by Osama Hammad, to confront the challenges resulting from the displacement from Sudan to the city of “Kufra”.
The head of the emergency room at the Ministry of Health, Ismail Al-Aydha, participated in a meeting with the “UN” delegation, which included the Deputy of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative, the Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Libya, in addition to representatives of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Libya and the World Health Organization in Libya. Along with representatives of other United Nations agencies, the Libyan Humanitarian Relief and Aid Authority, and the United Nations Population Fund.
The efforts of the General Command, the Council of Ministers of the Libyan government, and the Ministry of Health to assist the city of “Kufra” in addressing the humanitarian and health challenges resulting from the increasing numbers of displaced people from Sudan were discussed.
The “UN” delegation affirmed the United Nations’ commitment to supporting efforts aimed at meeting the basic needs of citizens, and providing the required support to the city in order to improve the humanitarian and health response to confront this crisis.
