Two officers and Army personnel killed in clashes
with a Popular Resistance Official
According to eyewitnesses’ statements, an Army force attacked a Popular Resistance Official in the “Al-Fereykha” area, north of Berber, in the River Nile state, on Friday, which led to the death of two officers and a number of “SAF” members.
Witnesses reported that a battle lasted for about (5) hours between the forces of the Popular Resistance Commander in Berber locality, known as “Wad Ahmed,” and an Army force in the “Al-Fereykha” area, north of Berber, River Nile state.
Conflicts had previously taken place between Police Forces and “Wad Ahmed” in the “Baqa” area, north of Berber, which resulted in the death of a number of citizens and Police officers as well as the detention of a member of Army Intelligence.
Two days ago, the Popular Resistance Official in the River Nile state, Lt. Gen. Mahjoub Hassan Saad, resigned from his position following disagreements between him and the governor of the state.
Dozens of young men in the River Nile state fled the training and mobilization camps known as “Popular Resistance,” amidst widespread rejection of mobilization operations among citizens, pointing out that the Army is led by the “Islamic Movement” and the brigades of the former regime, and that its war against the Rapid Support Forces is for the purpose of seizing power and not a war for the sake of the country and its future as they claim. They said: “We will not participate in any action that will reinstate Al-Kizan into power.”
