the Rapid Support Forces
The Sudanese Army Brigadier General, Omar Hamdan Al-Basha, announced his joining the Rapid Support Forces, stating that the Army is hijacked by the “National Congress Party” and no longer represents the Sudanese people.
In his statement regarding joining the Rapid Support Forces, Al-Basha shared that the “National Congress Party” fully controls the leadership of the Army as well as the enrollment of officers in the Military Academy.
He added: “The Army has been hijacked by Islamists, and is preoccupied with investment and trade, deviating from its fundamental tasks stipulated in the Armed Forces Law.”
Brig. Gen. Omar Hamdan Al-Basha, stressed that the collapse of the Army can be attributed to a structural defect in the function of the Armed Forces and its tasks stipulated in the Armed Forces Law, as a result of what he described as the Islamists’ control of the Army through Senior Commanders.
Al-Basha called on the honorable members of the Armed Forces to join the Rapid Support Forces, which he referred to as the National Forces that represent all regions of Sudan.
