“TNOHRVS” Condemns the Army Aviation Massacre in
El-Geneina and Nyala
The National Observatory for Human Rights Violations – Sudan “TNOHRVS” condemned the massacre that took place in the cities of “Nyala” and “El-Geneina” in South and West Darfur as a result of Army aircraft bombing, which led to the death and wounding of a number of civilians.
In a statement on its social media account on the “X” platform, the National Observatory expressed its deep sadness over the bloody massacre committed by Sudanese Army Aviation against defenseless citizens in the cities of “El-Geneina” and “Nyala.”
The National Observatory for Human Rights Violations stated that the launched air strike claimed dozens of lives and wounded others, most of whom were children and women. And considered aerial bombardments with explosive barrels against civilians to be war crimes and gross violation of human rights, stressing that the Sudanese Army Aviation had been committing atrocities in the Darfur region for more than twenty years.
The National Observatory called on International Human Rights Organizations to condemn the massacres committed by the Sudanese Army through aviation in heavily populated areas, and reiterated the need to impose a no-fly zone on the cities of Khartoum, Al-Jazeera, Sennar, Blue Nile and Darfur. Urging the Sudanese Army to stop targeting civilians with explosive barrels, out of respect for human rights first and in response to United Nations agreements that guarantee citizens the right to civil protection in areas of armed conflict.
