Beauty and the Beast… Will they meet ?

Without getting upset..

Abdul Hafeez Maryoud

If I were a great officer, among those interrogated by Mrs. Sanaa Hamad, the former Ambassador and Minister of Information, I would have confessed. If I were, for example, Salah Gosh, Jalal Al-Sheikh, or Ibn Aouf personally, I would have done it. I was would’ve confessed… and (I will admit… all my mistakes, and the wishes my heart made), as Mahmoud Darwish said.

Sanaa, at the time, was an envoy from the Islamic Movement to investigate the “Ousting of Field Marshal, Al-Bashir.” Which is indeed an official mission. But many believed that Mrs. Sanaa Hamad only represents herself. Or -at best- she represented a limited sect of the Islamic Movement.

That desperate attempt at denial was intended to indicate that the Islamic Movement has no authority over the leadership of the Security Services. The greatest evidence to support such claims is that the leaders of the Security Services decided to oust Al-Bashir without referring to the “Islamic Movement.”

If they were under the Movement’s command, they wouldn’t have done so without consultation. In which case… why did they agree to meet with Sanaa Hamad then ? Why answer her questions at all, orally or in writing ? Answering Sanaa Hamad’s questions implies authority, recognition, and submission to the Islamic Movement. The investigation in itself was launched because the leaders of the Security Services “disobeyed” established orders and acted according to their “assessment of the situation,” without the Movement’s “advice.”

Do you see ?

No sooner had the noise of the people subsided, after Sanaa Hamad revealed her “investigations” to Al-Taher Hassan Al-Toum, than Sanaa returned to the limelight, once again, with her talk to Al-Jazeera, in which she explained there is a possibility of the Islamic Movement sitting with Rapid Support Forces, if the latter wanted to achieve peace. Ruling out sitting with “TAGADOM” -the Islamic Movement, not Sanaa, of course- Because the “crime of TAGADOM” is heavier in the “Islamic Movement’s balance” than the “crime of the Rapid Support Forces.”

Of course, Sanaa added that this was her personal opinion, not the opinion of the Islamic Movement. And subsequently, a group from the Islamic Movement asserted that claim. A journalist affiliated with the Islamic Movement stated that Sanaa Hamad was weak, and that Ahmed Taha -Al Jazeera presenter- “toyed with her.” He then concluded his statement by adding: “Whoever is brought up in adornments (wearing silk and gold ornaments, i.e. women), are unable to give a clear account in a dispute.”

Do you see ?

What’s different about this scene ?

The difference is that “The wicked don’t sing alone,” as the Gypsy common proverb says. The Islamic Movement began to sing with a cracked, deep, trembling voice. But -usually- when it starts singing, it seeks jurisprudential support. For the Islamic Movement, jurisprudence is merely pragmatic schemes to aid in attaining what it desires. A quick review of the Movement’s history corroborates that. Its positions were “flexible” from the beginning. But successful in covering that up with a lot of coarseness, a frown, and temporary sternness…but soon regaining its “satisfied” state after a while.

The bias towards peace, which Mrs. Sanaa stated as one of the established orders, obscures any traces of the Islamic Movement involvement. And acting with disregard to a number of established orders, including (Don’t be the aggressor). She launched a war to eliminate the Rapid Support Forces as well as the Forces of Freedom and Change, with one stone… erasing the so-called “December Revolution” from the history of Sudan, and attempting to once again re-establish God’s State on earth.

However, the Islamic Movement found itself faced with new challenges due to the course of the war. The Movement found that everything that was once in its favor, has now been turned against it. The first example of such scenario is (The local public opinion). Simply because the “enemy” this time is very close, very complex, multi-faceted, with close relations with numerous countries, in addition, the Islamic Movement miscalculated the “enemy’s” combat capabilities.

Be it regionally and internationally, the Islamic Movement can’t seem to find a dominant supporter. Iran won’t be able to bring you a fish every day to break your fast. It can teach you to fish, feed you for two or three days, but after that you have to find your own breakfast. Türkiye isn’t in a position that encourages it to wade through the mud you are in.

And so on..

Do you see ?

Sanaa Hamad isn’t a discordant voice. She isn’t expressing her personal opinion. She is part of an Islamic cadre that doesn’t pay attention to “personalization.” This means that she isn’t one of the Islamic Movement’s (easy cadres, who aspire to make an appearance, and display strange coquettish behavior). Therefore, what she says must be taken with the appropriate seriousness.

The future will reveal whether she was expressing a personal opinion or conveying the opinion of the “Movement.”

Which begs the question: Will the beast accept to sit with the beauty, if she showed bias towards peace ?

Only God knows..
