Al-Hilal and Al-Merreikh in a heated match
Today “Sunday” the Sudanese summit teams Al-Hilal and Al-Merreikh will meet at the end of the Sudanese Super League in Dar es Salaam, the United Republic of Tanzania.
Today’s Sudanese summit match is the fourth of its kind outside the country due to the ongoing war plaguing the country since April 2023.
Al-Merreikh is led by its veteran player, Ramadan Ajab, and enters the match with a new formation after loaning a number of the team’s players to Arab and African clubs.
Al-Hilal “The Blue Wave” surpasses Al-Merreikh “Al-Za’eem” in the number of wins outside Sudan, as the first derby match outside the country in more than a quarter of a century was held in the Qatari capital, Doha, in 1996.
The Super League is the tournament created by the Sudanese Football Association to determine Sudan’s representatives in the African championships in light of the suspension of the Sudanese League due to the ongoing war.
