“Karti” nominates “Gibril” as President !!
Ashraf Abdulaziz
Regardless of any sarcasm or ridicule, let us put the matter in the balance of performance, ability and efficiency. Truthfully, the current government has lost its legitimacy since the ill-fated October 25th Coup, and following its assault on the democratic civil government, it has failed spectacularly to provide any notable achievements at a local and international levels.
The current government wasn’t even successful in achieving military resolution in the war it had ignited. The ongoing war claimed the lives of Sudanese people, displacing them locally and internationally, many of them sat on the ash hills gazing at the fire and singing (the Guava… the Guava)!!
Among those who continue to embody this absurd reality is Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, this man who is envied for wasting opportunities for advancement. It is rather true that he succeeded in hoarding money, but certainly an inventory of the accounts is imminent, the bank that was purchased in a neighboring country is well-known, and all suspicious transactions don’t require much of an examination to be discovered.
Gibril was advised by many of his loyal acquaintances to devote himself to the “Justice and Equality Movement” and leave the position of Minister of Finance to one of its leaders, because taking charge of Sudan’s treasuries amidst these difficult circumstances is rather a risky path strewn with thorns, but he held firm and chose power, and the rest is history.
Aside from doubts and speculations, has Sudan’s economy improved ? Has the gross production reached a high level ? Has the Sudanese pound stood its ground against foreign currencies ? And have teachers and other civil service employees been receiving their wages ? Two days ago, didn’t an official in El-Gedaref locality speak to (AL-Jareeda) about taking in teachers to work with him as cleaners in El-Gedaref’s market ?
Gibril’s position of formal neutrality is belied by his regular meetings with the Secretary General of the Sudanese Islamic Movement, Ali Karti, prior to the war, in that suburb located in Sharg Alneel area, where Karti’s sister’s house is located. Ever since, Gibril hasn’t cared about what he has to offer as long as he remains among the favored people close to the Godfather, and thus merely awaiting his scripted roles at every stage.
Strangely, the man didn’t rely on a strong Movement, so he sought to control the entirety of the Justice and Equality Movement aspects, and managed to lose the closest man to him in the process… The JEM Political Secretary, his companion and the one accepted among the soldiers, Suleiman Sandal, taking along with him distinguished and competent people like Hasabo (Adam Issa), Gibril Bilal, and others who broke the staff of obedience imposed by Gibril, propelling him to hasten to appoint himself again as head of the “JEM” from Port Sudan and not Nyala, which he -ironically- visited only once, even though he assumed his position at the expense of the Darfur issue.
Clearly, those proposing to nominate Gibril to assume the position of Prime Minister in the government that lacks legitimacy realize that such an act is consistent with the mood of the Islamic Movement that is currently suffocating under the weight of the international sanctions as well as the global consensus on it being the party responsible for igniting this senseless war that has brought Sudan to ruin… but they don’t seem to realize this will only serve to further agitate the situation plaguing the Sudanese people. For they are no longer able to bear more than they have already tolerated.
In my estimation, Gibril being proposed as the Prime Minister is a conspiracy to set the remains alight.
