“Kampala” the Last Chance

Safaa Al-Fahal

The situation is about to become crystal clear to everyone in the next two weeks, as the “AU Peace and Security Council” has put the leadership of the Security Committee and the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces to the test by adopting a decision to meet with the leaders of both parties to the ongoing conflict in “Kampala” under the auspices of Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, awaiting the Army’s response after the unconditional approval of the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces.

As usual, the Army is expected to remain silent and allow the de facto government’s “Kizan” in Port Sudan to speak on its behalf.

Whether the Army or Al-Burhan specifically agree to participate in this meeting or refuse, it will serve to yield the same result, as the matter has been settled, and this is the last chance.

This opportunity came at the request of the Union before the Security Council decides on the matter of international intervention to stop this absurd war by force and impose the harshest possible sanctions on the stubborn and evasive party when it comes to complying with the decisions to stop the war and secure paths to save the rest of the citizens affected while the matter keeps reaching new heights, with no clear signs of reasonable behavior exhibited from both sides.

We were the first to demand the United Nations Charter, Chapter VII, and we still do, because we are convinced that stopping the war has become beyond the capabilities of even the two parties to the conflict. The Rapid Support Forces, dealing with the attempts to disperse it, placed the decision of war and its continuation in the hands of the Field Commanders who have been scorched by the fires of a fierce war for nearly a year and a half, in which they have lost a lot, so the motives of revenge and gloating are what drives them more than the instructions of the higher command or diplomacy.

On the other hand, everyone has come to know that the Armed Forces’ decision has become subject to the instructions of the ousted regime’s holdouts, or the Islamic Movement that represents their political ecosystem, rendering the decisions or actions of its leader, Al-Burhan, worthless if they don’t conform to their search for protection and continued participation in political work and governance, which they consider to be the only guarantor to protect them from the accountability that they know is coming and will be rather harsh.

The international community, which gave the African Union the opportunity to try to resolve the issue (quietly), will have a violent reaction if this direct meeting fails (which is expected) considering the suspicious silence of the Port Sudan government.
The latter is looking for a way out of this predicament and is fully aware of the details of what awaits it whether it agrees to the “Kampala” meeting or not. The outcomes of this meeting won’t have an impact on the situation on the ground unless a civilian authority takes control over the country.

Utilizing various ways, this is the situation they have been attempting to escape, since the dispersal of the Sit-in, Al-Burhan’s Coup, even igniting this war, and they might be willing to accept the participation of the Rapid Support Forces in power without the return of civilian rule, but how would they achieve such a matter ?

It is rather too late and the situation is out of control. In general, the upcoming days are promising good tidings for the Sudanese people despite their loss of hope for reform.

The struggle will never stop..

The call for retribution won’t stop…

Mercy and heavenly eternity for our martyrs..
