“KSA” expels Sudanese
Sudanese expatriates in numerous Arab countries find themselves faced with strict legal procedures, as the “UAE” suspended the one-year residency visa granted to Sudanese nationals “Countries of Disasters and Wars”. In addition to commercial activities and Sudanese schools being suspended in Egypt. While the Saudi authorities are expelling violators and warmongers who support the defunct Sudanese regime.
The Origin of the Story
Activists on social media considered the strict procedures by some countries against Sudanese nationals are due to the behavior of expatriates and the lack of respect for these countries’ laws and diplomatic norms exhibited by the parties representing Sudan abroad, in addition to the irresponsible statements of Army leaders, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials.
The activists held the leaders of the Army, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sudanese Mission to the United Nations, in addition to the behaviors exhibited by some Sudanese expatriates, responsible for the strict measures currently taking place, noting that the countries that took these measures were seeking to help Sudanese fleeing the war.
However, the behaviors practiced by the Army leadership and political activists launching accusations against these countries, played a direct role in the current resulting reaction, stressing that numerous countries will follow new measures in dealing with the Sudanese people fleeing the war to neighboring countries and the region.
Crucial Decisions
Yesterday, the United Arab Emirates stopped issuing one-year residency permits “Countries of Disasters and Wars” for holders of all types of visit permits of Sudanese nationals, according to travel agencies and media outlets.
They pointed out that a number of travel agencies notified their clients who had previously obtained entry visas and hadn’t used them yet, of the need to pay a guarantee amounting to “2,500” dirhams, otherwise the visa will be canceled (48) hours before the date of entry.
The Emirati authorities grant Sudanese nationals present on its territory permits for a period of one month until their status is regularized or they leave the United Arab Emirates.
The Cairo Siege
Yesterday, the Arab Republic of Egypt officially announced the suspension of Sudanese commercial activities as well as the entirety of Sudanese schools in Egypt, according to a decision issued by the Egyptian Council of Ministers No. 2091 of 2024, which is related to the reclassification of public shops and the cancellation of the classification of some materials issued in 2019 and 2020. The Egyptian authorities informed dozens of Sudanese shops.
The Egyptian authorities’ decisions were preceded by a massive popular campaign by Sudanese activists and media professionals against the backdrop of the report of Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Kamal Madbouly, in which he announced that refugees cost the Arab Republic of Egypt $10 billion.
Egyptian reactions poured in after the Prime Minister’s statement and campaigns were organized on social media calling for the preservation of the Egyptian identity and the immediate expulsion of refugees from Egyptian territory.
According to “UN” statistics, more than (5) million Sudanese people have fled the war in Sudan to Egypt since the beginning of the war in April 2023, as smuggling operations continued across the desert to Egypt after Cairo suspended the process of granting visas to Sudanese nationals.
Under significant popular pressure, the Egyptian authorities began deporting Sudanese violators from its territory, as International Organizations and human rights activists documented the forced deportation of hundreds of Sudanese people in an inappropriate manner, and some were detained in military headquarters and deprived of their basic human rights.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Expels Sudanese
In contrast, Sudanese violators in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia face deportation from Saudi territory, unlike the past period, which witnessed a tolerant flexibility from the Saudi authorities towards Sudanese citizens.
In addition, the authorities imposed tight control over supporters of the defunct Sudanese regime and supporters of the war in Sudan, going as far as to arrest some elements and actually deporting them to Sudan, heading that list of people is Almusbah Talha, the Commander of “Al-Bara’ ibn Malik” Brigade. In addition to others still under investigation as well as those being pursued at the moment.
