An urgent appeal to the “UN” to evacuate the Sudanese
stranded in Ethiopian forests
The “No to Women’s Oppression” Initiative launched an urgent humanitarian appeal to the International Community to resolve the crisis of Sudanese refugees who have been stranded -for some time- in the forests of Ethiopia and evacuate them to secure camps.
The Sudanese refugees stranded in the forests of Ethiopia are suffering through difficult humanitarian conditions, while the International Community and Organizations’ response proved lacking and failed to realize a solution for the stranded Sudanese nationals.
The Sudanese “No to Women’s Oppression” Initiative called on the International Community to resolve the Sudanese refugee’s crisis in the “Komer and Olala” camps, stranded in the forests of Ethiopia.
Sudanese refugees were threatened in the camp, and some lost their lives due to the lack of medical care.
The Initiative pointed out that (43) births were performed using a razor and traditional sewing, which resulted in (4) cases of paralysis among the refugees, in addition to the issue of unavailability of oxygen.
The number of Sudanese nationals stranded in the forests of Ethiopia is estimated at (6,000) people, including (2,000) children.
