Hemedti’s Speech…Sacrifice and redemption on the Eid of Sacrifice
Ali Ahmed
The Commander of the Rapid Support Forces, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo – Hemedti’s speech yesterday, in which he addressed the Sudanese people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. May God bless the Sudanese people with goodness, blessings, peace and stability, was brimming with messages calling for peace, stability, and ending the war. He declared his commitment to negotiations and talks as well as his willingness to accept all initiatives to achieve such ends.
Since the Islamists, led by their Army officers, ignited the war on the 15th of April, last year, the “RSF” Commander’s speeches have been characterized by calls to stop and end the war, despite the great victories achieved by his forces, inflicting crushing and resounding defeats on the hijacked Army supported by the Brotherhood militias and mercenary Armed Movements, which earned him the respect of the Sudanese people as well as the international and regional communities alike, while the Army found itself isolated and ostracized, especially after the whole world ascertained the participation of “ISIS” terrorist groups in the war fighting alongside the Army. Recently, the former became the latter’s center of military and political decisions.
However, in regards to the Commander’s speech, after he congratulated the Sudanese people and valiant “RSF” soldiers “Ashaws” on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, Hemedti noted the significant sacrifices made by his forces for the sake of democracy and the civil State, and in order to prevent the return of terrorists to power again. He also noted the tremendous victories they achieved in Umm Ruwaba, Jebel Kordofan, North of Al-Jili, Babanusa, Al-Faw and Umm Ba’ar, pointing out that the martyr, heroic Maj. Gen. Ali Yaqoub presented himself in the battle of El-Fasher as a sacrifice for freedom, justice and equality, the same applies to all martyrs of the Rapid Support Forces.
Hemedti reaffirmed that the “Islamic Movement” was responsible for igniting the war with the help of its members in the Army leadership, adding that it is the main cause of the Sudanese people’s suffering. He called for humanitarian routes to be opened so aid can be provided to those in need. which is a process being obstructed by the “Port Sudan group”.
The “RSF” Commander indicated that the Rapid Support Forces participated in the Jeddah negotiations with sincere intentions to achieve peace, but the “Islamic Movement” withdrew the Army delegation it controlled. He also disclosed information regarding the signing of the “Manama Agreement” and how the Army withdrew its delegation at the last minute as instructed by the “Islamic Movement”.
He added that his forces will not hesitate to accept any peace initiative and political and negotiated solution anywhere, although despite that fact, they will not hesitate to confront the remnants of the “Islamic Movement” and its members in the Army, the National Intelligence Service, and the mercenary Armed Movements that chose to abandon neutrality, backing the wrong side in a blatantly major betrayal of their slogans and principles.
Hemedti touched on the issue of the “Islamic movement”, labeling it “Terrorist” and stating that it seeks to divide the Sudanese society and tear Sudan apart by spreading hate speech, racism and tribalism. He strongly stressed his bias towards the unity of Sudan: “We are not hostile towards any party or tribe and will work to harness our efforts so that Sudan will remain united in way of land and people. And this is a principle that we will never give up, no matter the cost.”
The Rapid Support Forces’ Commander noted that the heinous acts committed by the Islamist and mercenary brigades in El-Fasher and across Sudan are criminal acts that do not represent a group or entity: “And we have pledged to God and ourselves that we will rid our country of them, God Willing.”
He urged the RSF valiant soldiers “Ashaws” not to get roped into practicing racist, regional, and tribal rhetoric, because that is the scheme of the ousted regime’s holdouts, whom we seek to uproot and rid the Sudanese people of their evils so they can live together as one without paying much regard to race, color or tribal affiliation in a unified Sudan where people possess equal rights and duties.
Hemedti revealed that the “Popular Resistance” is nothing but a cover for the participation of the “Islamic Movement” brigades in the war, stressing that his forces will not be lenient in dealing with these terrorist groups that threaten the future of our country. He warned rather vehemently about these groups working to terrorize citizens and use them as human shields. Stating that what happened in (Wad Al-Noura) in the state of Al-Jazeera was a military battle between the Rapid Support Forces on the one hand and forces from the Army, the Islamic Movement, the Mobilized forces in addition to the Security Service on the other hand. The Rapid Support Forces were able to defeat them, and there is no room for any political bidding in this matter.
The Rapid Support Forces Commander blamed the Armed mercenary Movements for the consequences of what took place and what will happen in El-Fasher after they abandoned their stance of neutrality and chose to side with their executioner. For they left “RSF” with no choice but to defend themselves. He promised that his forces would work to protect, secure and stabilize the citizens. He strongly condemned the brutal crimes committed by the ousted regime’s holdouts against the unarmed citizens, be it in the form of aerial bombardment or denying access to humanitarian Aid.
He concluded his speech by promising the Sudanese people that this war would be the last war in the country, that they would enjoy a safe and stable homeland in the future, and that they shouldn’t lose hope in that.
Thus, the speech of leaders is comprehensive and integrated, presenting a political and military vision and solutions to the war, not clowning, threatening, screaming, and mocking, as in Al-Burhan and Yasser Al-Atta’s speeches, which were absurd and became the subject of ridicule to the entire world, because they were brimming with insults and accusations made at will, as they have caused major social rifts locally and greater diplomatic losses abroad.
It is very difficult to review and analyze all the ideas contained in this speech in such limited space, but we hope to have covered and highlighted the most important of aspects.
Many happy returns!
