“Sudanese Congress” condemns “SAF” aerial strikes on
“Al-Koma” and extrajudicial arrests
The Sudanese Congress Party condemned the Army’s aerial attacks on “Al-Koma” area in North Darfur state, as well as what it termed the “Port Sudan Government” for carrying out extrajudicial arrests in areas under the control of the Armed Forces, in addition to conducting arbitrary trials, some of which are military, against a number of citizens under the pretext of cooperation with the Rapid Support Forces.
The Sudanese Congress Party shared in a statement, that the aerial bombardment by the Army’s warplanes resulted in the death and injury of a number of civilians, as well as herds of livestock. In addition to causing the destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure. The Party labeled the incident “A heinous crime”.
The Sudanese Congress Party added that the Army’s arrests of citizens are tinged with tribal and regional bias as well as political score-settling against those who refuse to support the continuation of the war, stressing that some trials are conducted by military judges, whose rulings -in some instances- was the death penalty, and imprisonment for varying periods, in others.
The Sudanese Congress Party held the government of Port Sudan responsible for the safety of female and male detainees, demanding their immediate release.
The Party praised the efforts of Sheikh Abi Qurun that resulted in the Rapid Support Forces releasing more than (700) detainees from the Police and Armed Forces on Saturday, indicating that such efforts are moving in the right direction, paving the way towards cessation of hostilities.
