An official draft revealed a Sudanese-Russian Agreement granting Russia a Military Technical and Logistical Support Center on the Red Sea coast in exchange for weapons.
Sudan’s ambassador to Moscow, Mohammed Siraj, shared in a press statement: “We will not abandon our commitments to build a Russian Naval Base on the Red Sea.” He reaffirmed his country’s commitment to building a Russian Naval Base on the Red Sea, explaining that the project faces merely a procedural problem, which both parties have a duty to overcome.
According to “Al-Sharq”, the Sudanese-Russian Agreement draft extends for (25) years and ends with the desire of one of the parties to terminate the agreement.
According to the agreement, Russia provides support to the Sudanese Army in terms of military equipment according to a separate protocol.
The Russian presence must not exceed (300) individuals, and the number of ships present at the Technical Support Center must not exceed (4) at a time, according to the agreement,.
The agreement enables Moscow to gain a foothold on the shore of the Red Sea, which represents a manifestation of Russia’s vision of itself as an international power, amid regional and international rejection of the step that may ignite the crisis between the countries bordering the Red Sea.
