“TAGADOM” and the “AU” discuss ending the war in Sudan
A delegation from the Coordination-body of the Democratic and Civil Forces “TAGADOM”, headed by Al-Hadi Idris, Vice-President of the Coordination, accompanied by Hiyam Bushra, Vice-President, Al-Siddiq Al-Sadiq, Secretary-General of the Coordination, as well as Asmaa Mahmoud Mohammed Taha and Dr. Bakri Al-Jak, members of the leadership body of “TAGADOM” met with the African Union High-Level Panel for Sudan, headed by Ambassador Mohamed Ibn Chambas and Mrs. Speciosa Wandira-Kazibwe and Francisco Madeira.
The Coordination shared in a statement that the African Union delegation congratulated “TAGADOM” on the success of the Founding Conference, in an acknowledgment of their efforts to end the war in Sudan through a comprehensive political solution negotiated by the Sudanese themselves, and the African Union is working to unify peace-seeking efforts in a singular platform, with an emphasis on the Jeddah Platform being the only active platform at the moment in attempting to reach a ceasefire agreement. The delegation confirmed that the African Union is about to facilitate a comprehensive dialogue between the Sudanese in the upcoming weeks.
The coordination delegation provided comprehensive information to the African Union high-level Panel regarding the tragic conditions of the Sudanese people in the regions plagued by war and displacement, especially after the rapid expansion of the war zones across the country, in addition to the looming threat of Famine, which has become a reality.
The Coordination delegation also provided a detailed explanation of the political vision of “TAGADOM” and plans to call for a round table conference of forces that reject the war and support the democratic civil transition, with the aim of reaching a vision about stopping the war prior to the political process to arrange the country’s situation in conjunction with the ceasefire.
