The Army bombs Al-Jili Oil Refinery
Once again
Eyewitnesses in the villages near Al-Jili Oil Refinery, north of Khartoum Bahri, stated that Army warplanes carried out an air strike on Sunday on Al-Jili Oil Refinery.
The eyewitnesses added to “Assayha” that they saw a number of warplanes flying near Al-Jili Oil Refinery, then a number of missiles were fired at the Refinery, igniting fires that erupted from inside the Refinery.
The Army continued to bomb the Oil Refinery by launching several aerial attacks under the pretext of “RSF” presence inside it. In late May, the Refinery was bombed, which caused severe damage to the lines transporting crude oil and led to the destruction of a number of important facilities inside the Refinery, according to the Rapid Support Forces.
The aerial bombardment of Al-Jili Oil Refinery stirred widespread condemnation because it is one of the most important Oil facilities as well as the largest, highly efficient Oil Refinery in the country. Highlighting the Army’s tendency to launch aerial attacks on important infrastructure and facilities, which is a clear indication of weakness and portrays an emotional response to the defeat it suffered coming from the city of Shendi. It also signifies the adoption of “The scorched earth policy” by the Army, that has used it before in Darfur, Kordofan, Blue Nile, and even earlier in South Sudan.
