Security Council discusses delivering humanitarian aid to Sudan
Today, the UN Security Council will hold a private meeting to discuss the Sudanese issue as well as the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and how to navigate delivering humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people.
The private meeting held to discuss the Sudanese issue, comes at the invitation of the Republic of Mozambique, and will discuss the humanitarian situation in Sudan.
The Assistant Secretary-General for Africa in the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations (DPPA-DPO) Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee and Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths, are expected to brief the Council on the situation in Sudan against the backdrop of the war that has raged since April last year between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces.
The meeting also discusses the tense situation in the capital of North Darfur, El-Fasher, and the conditions of citizens, as the city is being subjected to aerial bombardment by warplanes.
