Five million Sudanese are on the brink of famine
According to the United Nations, approximately (5) million Sudanese citizens are on the brink of Famine and another (18) million suffer from Acute Food Insecurity.
Carl Skau, Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Programme ” WFP,” added that the United Nations can only reach 25% of those in need of assistance, stressing that the odds of avoiding Famine are rapidly diminishing.
In an interview with “UN News,” after concluding his visit to Sudan, Skau stated that about (5) million people in Sudan are on the brink of Famine, describing the situation in Sudan as “Desperate and rapidly deteriorating,” explaining that the World Food Programme’s ability to expand their efforts is dependent on facilitating access across the front lines of the war as well as across the borders with Chad and South Sudan.
