Washington announces one of the warring parties
refusal to resume Jeddah negotiations
The US Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello, announced that one of the parties to the conflict in Sudan refused to agree to the resumption of negotiations through the Jeddah platform, and pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had yet to receive approval from one of the parties for its invitation.
The negotiations between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces were scheduled to resume at the beginning of this May.
In a meeting with Civil Society Organizations in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, Perriello expressed his dissatisfaction with the role of the international community in the Sudanese crisis, and stated that Washington has yet to put forth its best efforts in stopping the war in Sudan.
Perriello revealed that the de facto government in Sudan refused to grant him an entry visa to Port Sudan even after two months-worth of attempts to meet with Sudanese parties to discuss the Sudanese crisis.
