claiming thousands of deaths
The Ministry of Health announced that 11,000 cases of cholera were recorded, including 325 deaths, in addition to 9,000 cases of dengue fever, that included 66 deaths, expanding over12 states.
The Minister Haitham Ibrahim shared in a press statement following his meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the coup Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, that the health sector is witnessing a significant improvement in terms of medicines availability as well as pharmaceutical and medical consumables after the Ministry of Finance’s commitment to providing monthly support, in addition to the support of a number of donors.
The meeting discussed the health emergency performance report and the reports received from the states.
The Minister of Health attributed the increasing rate of diseases and epidemics to the continuation of the war, which created critical environmental conditions that made it difficult for control teams to perform their duties. He emphasized the Ministry’s serious efforts in cooperation with state ministries and partners in order to reduce the rate of epidemics and diseases during the rainy season.
