SPLM condemns Army Intelligence for
killing civilians under torture in South Kordofan
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) condemned the arrest of dozens of citizens by the Sudanese Military intelligence. Those arrests included young academics and graduates – in the “Kiga Laban” area of South Kordofan, under the pretext of collaborating with the SPLM. Their torture, led to the death of eleven detainees.
The official spokeswoman for the (SPLM-N), Ghada Hassan Mardoum, shared in a statement that the army forces in South Kordofan are still continuing what she termed “An ethnic cleansing project against the Nuba in the Kiga Laban area.”
She added: “in continuation of their approach in implementing a scorched earth policy and committing crimes against humanity, that included ethnic cleansing and genocide in the Nuba Mountains region, the military intelligence of the Sudanese Armed Forces in South Kordofan state arrested on Thursday eleven civilians, who died under torture following their arrest, while another civilian went missing during the events”.
The (SPLM-N) condemned what it called “the army forces’ revenge” on defenseless civilians after their repeated losses, despite their full knowledge of the Movement’s military sites.
The official spokeswoman added, the killings that took place in “Kiga Laban” were a clear and explicit racist targeting. And: “The perpetrators of this crime will sooner or later be punished”.
The statement shared: “Such practices will not be of use or benefit. But will rather increase the Sudanese People’s certainty that these forces do not represent them. The day will come when they will be eliminated to simply put an end to the persecution and systematic targeting of citizens.”
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North pledged to continue their fight against what it described as “the policies of the old Sudan and its distorted army,” in order to build a “new Sudan” that respects and protects everyone without discrimination.
