Unidentified drones target Army and
Security headquarters in El-Gedaref
According to eyewitnesses, unidentified drones targeted the headquarters of the Intelligence and Security Service, the Second Division, and the Judicial Authority in the cities of El-Gedaref and Al-Fau in eastern Sudan, today (Tuesday).
The eyewitnesses stated: “Unidentified drones destroyed significant parts of the Intelligence and Security Service headquarters as well as part of the judicial Authority headquarters in the city of El-Gedaref, while others targeted the Army’s Second Division headquarters in the nearby city of Al-Fau, and the number of victims is yet to be known.”
The incident created a state of trepidation amongst the city’s residents, noting that the authorities issued a decree to close El-Gedaref market instantaneously.
The city of El-Gedaref is located in eastern Sudan along the border with Ethiopia, and is still one of the states outside the area of military conflict between the Army and Rapid Support Forces.
The city of El-Gedaref is home to the Sudanese Army’s Second Division headquarters, hosting camps for a number of Armed Movements supporting the army as well.
Throughout the recent period, the Sudanese army and allied movements and brigades, mobilizing significant numbers in El-Gedaref in preparation for the attack on Al-Jazeera state with the aim of reclaiming it from the Rapid Support Forces in mind.
On Sunday, ferocious battles broke out on the eastern border of Al-Jazeera state near the city of Al-Fau, between the Rapid Support Forces, the army and its allied forces from the Darfur movements and the National Congress Party brigades.
While the army remains silent in regard to the recent events, the Rapid Support Forces announced their military progress, stating that they had very well “Eliminated the army mobile in addition to members of the ousted regime and their followers from the movements along the outskirts of Al-Fau city in El-Gedaref state.”
