In an interview with the news eye Mirghani
the civilian front is our way to prevent the nightmare of dividing Sudan
The wheel of war is spinning non-stop in Sudan, while civilian forces are working in the background in order to form a front to stop the fighting and prevent the country from sliding into a partition scenario. The head of the political sector of the Democratic Federal Party of origin, and the leader of the forces that signed the framework agreement in Sudan, Ibrahim al-Mirghani, said that the continuation of the war has one inevitable result, which is the division of Sudan into conflicting, rival and Divided States on themselves. Al-Mirghani explained in an interview with” Al-Ain news ” that Sudan is not a nation-state that arose as a result of a historical development, but it is a composite state of a number of Ancient Kingdoms and heterogeneous societies, and in our current situation, the threat of Partition is approaching as much as the continuation of this war and its transformation into a full-scale civil war, stressing that the way to stop the war is to form a unified civil front that keeps the country away from militarization and militarization. And to the text of the dialogue: Are we facing a real division of Sudan or are these talks for political consumption The threat of Partition is present and similar to what happened not so long ago in 2011, when we lost a third of Sudan (the secession of South Sudan following a referendum) and the continuation of this war has one inevitable result: the division of Sudan into conflicting, rival and Divided States. Sudan is not a nation – state that has emerged as a result of historical development, but it is a composite state of a number of Ancient Kingdoms and heterogeneous societies, and in our current case, the threat of Partition is approaching as this war continues and turns into a full-scale civil war. * The war has been going on for a long time and there are no solutions in sight to stop it, what can you, as political forces, provide solutions or mechanisms to stop it Since the first day of the war, the political forces have sought to stop it by communicating with the parties to the conflict and the international community and have actively contributed to the launch of the Jeddah platform, and mediated a number of truces from within Sudan. After the departure of the leadership of the political and civilian forces due to the restriction and difficulty of communication and communication, she conducted regional and international tours that effectively contributed to consolidating an international position against the war and remained in touch with the army leadership and rapid support and continues its efforts to stop the war by civilian means. * Some hold the political forces, especially those who signed the framework agreement, what has become of the fighting in Sudan These are lies that were promoted through well-known organized campaigns that were part of the plan to ignite the war and hold the civilian forces responsible (we threw its start and slipped away), but everyone inside and outside Sudan now knows exactly who started the war and why And who is working on its continuation The framework agreement was the only way to avoid the clash, the chapters of which began since the dispute between the army and the Rapid Support erupted following the decisions to dismiss the civilian government on October 25, when the leaders of political and civilian forces were in prison or outside the country. * There is an accusation of the forces signing the framework that they practiced exclusion and tried to control, so the situation exploded between the army and the Rapid Support The political forces followed a political process in which broad sectors of the Sudanese participated and lasted for months, while they could have signed a quick agreement with the military institution to take power, as happened in 2019, but they chose to involve real stakeholders in eastern Sudan and Darfur, the families of martyrs, trade unions, professionals and a wide range of political and civilian forces, including the moderate Islamic current, the two largest historical parties and armed struggle movements facilitated by the United Nations, the African Union, IGAD and friends of Sudan. Those who speak of exclusion have either excluded themselves or are demanding the impossible condition of everyone’s participation, which has not happened and will not happen in any political process in the history of mankind. We are talking about a participation of more than 70%, and when the argument of civilians ‘ disagreement collapsed, the plan was ready and the agreement was attacked on April 15 last (the beginning of clashes between the army and Rapid Support). * Can we consider that the framework agreement is a thing of the past, as there have been statements from the conflicting sides that the situation will not return to the way it was after April 15 Certainly, the situation will not return to what it was before April 15 last, and we made a lot of concessions in the framework agreement just to avoid war, and now what we feared has happened and the war took place in the center of the Sudanese state, the constitutional system collapsed and the economic and social structure was destroyed, certainly the issues addressed by the framework will remain, but the war imposed a major central issue, which is the re-establishment of the Sudanese state to make this war the last of Sudan’s Wars. The framework agreement was attended by the tripartite mechanism consultations (the United Nations, the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on development “IGAD”), and the quartet consisting of (the United States, Britain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE), and the agreement was aimed – at that time – to resolve the Sudanese crisis since October 25, 2021, when the chairman of the transitional sovereign council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan imposed exceptional measures, including the dissolution of the sovereign councils and transitional ministers, the arrest of ministers and politicians, the declaration of a state of emergency and the dismissal of Governors (governors). * What Have you presented as political forces so far after the Addis Ababa meetings and is your vision for solving the Sudanese crisis workable The Addis Ababa meetings were the second step to approve the vision of the civil forces to stop the war, from which we began to work on establishing a broad civil front to stop the war and restore the civil transition, which is the hump of our vision based on the creation of this front, and we aim through it to create a broad civil alignment based on solid ground and a common vision for Sudan, representing the objective alternative and the historical balanced bloc as the center of civil political action. * Is it possible for political and civilian forces to unite in the face of militarization and militarization in the country by the parties to the conflict Yes, of course it is possible, it was achieved in the distant and near past and is achievable now. Is it possible to gather all the different political forces and armed movements at one table to achieve a democratic civil transition as you claim Not all of these parties can be brought together, but the main forces, actors and real stakeholders of civil transformation can be brought together. Advocates of war and stakeholders in totalitarianism, of course, will not come. The war has now united the Sudanese and settled between the regions of Sudan to such an extent that marginal issues have become central issues. Previously, people heard about the war and saw its images, but now they have lived it and know the meaning of displacement, asylum, death and devastation. Despite the evil in this matter, it has a great opportunity if we use it well for the benefit of our country and re-establish it on the bases of freedom, justice and true democracy. But the biggest loser in this war after the Sudanese people is the military institution with its various organs, which was exhausted in an internal war in which it lost tens of thousands of its officers and trained soldiers and massive destruction of its equipment, equipment and systems in the largest self-destruction operation that even the enemies of Sudan dreamed of.
