Head of the UN mission in Sudan: I received Assination threats

Volker Perutz, head of the UNITAMS mission in Sudan, revealed that he was threatened with death, by extremist Sudanese who do not like what he is doing within the tripartite mechanism to resolve the political crisis that has arisen since the coup of the 25 October 2021.
Volker said, during his interview with the (Darhum) program presented by the Sudanese journalist, Shawqi Abdel-Azim, that he is comfortable with his presence in Sudan (I am generally comfortable in this country, although some people threatened me with death via the Internet, perhaps because what we are doing they do not like, and there are those who do not like my mandate).

In response to a question from journalist Dora Gumbo about his personal safety in Sudan, Volker added, “Those who threaten to kill are a few extremist people, but the majority of people appreciate what we are doing, and I feel comfortable among people when we go to the market.” He added, “Those who threaten to kill do not express the Islamic religion or Sudanese culture
